Sunan Abu Dawood 2448 - Fasting (Kitab Al-Siyam)

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَسْلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمِّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ أَسْلَمَ أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صُمْتُمْ يَوْمَكُمْ هَذَا ؟ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ لَا. قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَتِمُّوا بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِكُمْ وَاقْضُوهُ. قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ يَعْنِي يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ .

Urdu Translation

عبدالرحمٰن بن مسلمہ اپنے چچا سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ   قبیلہ اسلم کے لوگ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے، آپ نے پوچھا: کیا تم لوگوں نے اپنے اس دن کا روزہ رکھا ہے؟ جواب دیا: نہیں، فرمایا: دن کا بقیہ حصہ بغیر کھائے پئے پورا کرو اور روزے کی قضاء کرو ۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: یعنی عاشوراء کے دن۔

English Translation

Narrated Abdur Rahman ibn Maslamah: Abdur Rahman reported on the authority of his uncle that the people of the tribe Aslam came to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He said (to them): Did you fast on this day? They replied: No. He said: Complete the rest of your day, and make atonement for it.
