Sunan Abu Dawood 4785 - General Behavior (Kitab Al-Adab)

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ مَا خُيِّرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَمْرَيْنِ إِلَّا اخْتَارَ أَيْسَرَهُمَا مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ إِثْمًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ كَانَ إِثْمًا كَانَ أَبْعَدَ النَّاسِ مِنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَا انْتَقَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِنَفْسِهِ إِلَّا أَنْ تُنْتَهَكَ حُرْمَةُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَيَنْتَقِمُ لِلَّهِ بِهَا .

Urdu Translation

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو دو کاموں میں جب بھی اختیار کا حکم دیا گیا تو آپ نے اس میں آسان تر کو منتخب کیا، جب تک کہ وہ گناہ نہ ہو، اور اگر وہ گناہ ہوتا تو آپ لوگوں میں سب سے زیادہ اس سے دور رہنے والے ہوتے، اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنی خاطر کبھی انتقام نہیں لیا، اس صورت کے علاوہ کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی حرمت کو پامال کیا جاتا ہو تو آپ اس صورت میں اللہ تعالیٰ کے لیے اس سے بدلہ لیتے ۱؎۔

English Translation

Aishah said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was never given his choice between two things without taking the easier (or lesser) of them provided it involved no sin, for if it did, no one kept farther away from it than he. And the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم never took revenge on his own behalf for anything unless something Allah had forbidden has been transgressed, in which event he took revenge for it for Allah’s sake.
