It was narrated that Mus'ab bin Sa'd said: I prayed beside my father and I put my hands between my knees, and he told me: 'Put your hands on your knees.' Then I did that again and he struck my hands and said: 'We were forbidden to do that, and we were commanded to put our hands on our knees.'

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ صَلَّيْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِ أَبِي وَجَعَلْتُ يَدَيَّ بَيْنَ رُكْبَتَيَّ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اضْرِبْ بِكَفَّيْكَ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَضَرَبَ يَدِي وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّا قَدْ نُهِينَا عَنْ هَذَا وَأُمِرْنَا أَنْ نَضْرِبَ بِالْأَكُفِّ عَلَى الرُّكَبِ .

مصعب بن سعد کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے اپنے والد  ( سعد بن ابی وقاص رضی اللہ عنہ )  کے پہلو میں نماز پڑھی، میں نے رکوع میں اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں کو دونوں گھٹنوں کے درمیان کر لیا، تو انہوں نے مجھ سے کہا: اپنی ہتھیلیاں اپنے دونوں گھٹنوں پہ رکھو، پھر میں نے دوسری بار بھی ایسا ہی کیا، تو انہوں نے میرے ہاتھ پر مارا اور کہا: ہمیں اس سے روک دیا گیا ہے، اور ہاتھوں کو گھٹنوں پہ رکھنے کا حکم دیا گیا ہے۔
