It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in prayer one day, then he turned to face us and said: 'I am now your imam, so do not hasten to bow or prostrate or stand or leave before I do. I can see you in front of me and behind me.' Then he said: 'By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, if you had seen what I have seen, you would laugh little and weep much.' We said: 'What have you seen, O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?' He said: 'Paradise and Hell.'

أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ ابْنِ فُلْفُلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنِّي إِمَامُكُمْ فَلَا تُبَادِرُونِي بِالرُّكُوعِ وَلَا بِالسُّجُودِ وَلَا بِالْقِيَامِ وَلَا بِالِانْصِرَافِ،‏‏‏‏ فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ مِنْ أَمَامِي وَمِنْ خَلْفِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ،‏‏‏‏ لَوْ رَأَيْتُمْ مَا رَأَيْتُ لَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلًا وَلَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا ،‏‏‏‏ قُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ مَا رَأَيْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ الْجَنَّةَ وَالنَّارَ .

انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ایک دن رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں نماز پڑھائی، پھر ہماری طرف متوجہ ہو کر فرمایا:  میں تمہارا امام ہوں، تو تم مجھ سے رکوع و سجود اور قیام میں جلدی نہ کرو، اور نہ ہی سلام میں، کیونکہ میں تمہیں اپنے آگے سے بھی دیکھتا ہوں، اور پیچھے سے بھی ، پھر آپ نے فرمایا:  قسم ہے اس ذات کی جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے، اگر تم وہ چیزیں دیکھتے جو میں دیکھتا ہوں تو تم ہنستے کم، اور روتے زیادہ ، ہم نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ نے کیا دیکھا ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا:  میں نے جنت اور جہنم دیکھی ہے ۔
