It was narrated that Jabir bin Samurah said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) delivering the khutbah on Friday standing, then he sat briefly and did not speak, then he stood up and delivered a second khutbah. So whoever tells you that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to deliver the khutbah seated, he has lied.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ قَائِمًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يَقْعُدُ قِعْدَةً لَا يَتَكَلَّمُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيَخْطُبُ خُطْبَةً أُخْرَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَمَنْ حَدَّثَكُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَخْطُبُ قَاعِدًا فَقَدْ كَذَبَ.

جابر بن سمرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو جمعہ کے دن کھڑے ہو کر خطبہ دیتے دیکھا، پھر آپ کچھ دیر چپ چاپ بیٹھتے پھر کھڑے ہوتے اور دوسرا خطبہ دیتے، جو تم سے بیان کرے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بیٹھ کر خطبہ دیتے تھے تو وہ غلط گو جھوٹا ہے۔
