It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'May Allah (SWT) have mercy on a man who gets up at night and prays, then he wakes his wife and she prays, and if she refuses he sprinkles water in her face. And may Allah (SWT) have mercy on a woman who gets up at night and prays, then she wakes her husband and prays, and if he refuses she sprinkles water in his face.'

أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي الْقَعْقَاعُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ رَحِمَ اللَّهُ رَجُلًا قَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّى ثُمَّ أَيْقَظَ امْرَأَتَهُ فَصَلَّتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ أَبَتْ نَضَحَ فِي وَجْهِهَا الْمَاءَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَحِمَ اللَّهُ امْرَأَةً قَامَتْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّتْ ثُمَّ أَيْقَظَتْ زَوْجَهَا فَصَلَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ أَبَى نَضَحَتْ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْمَاءَ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا:  اللہ رحم کرے اس آدمی پر جو رات کو اٹھے اور نماز پڑھے، پھر اپنی بیوی کو بیدار کرے، تو وہ ( بھی )  نماز پڑھے، اگر نہ اٹھے تو اس کے چہرے پر پانی کے چھینٹے مارے، اور اللہ رحم کرے اس عورت پر جو رات کو اٹھے اور تہجد پڑھے، پھر اپنے شوہر کو  ( بھی )  بیدار کرے، تو وہ بھی تہجد پڑھے، اور اگر وہ نہ اٹھے تو اس کے چہرے پر پانی کے چھینٹے مارے  ۱؎۔
