It was narrated that 'Abdullah said: Defaming a Muslim is evildoing and fighting him is Kufr. (Sahih Mawquf)

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الزَّعْرَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سِبَابُ الْمُسْلِمِ فُسُوقٌ،‏‏‏‏ وَقِتَالُهُ كُفْرٌ .

عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ مسلمان کو گالی دینا فسق اور اس سے لڑنا کفر ( کا کام ) ہے۔
