it was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said: You will become keen for positions of authority, but that will become a regret and loss. What a good life they will live, but how hard it will be for them when they die.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ آَدَمَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إنَّكُمْ سَتَحْرِصُونَ عَلَى الإِمارَةِ،‏‏‏‏ وَإنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ نَدَامَةً وَحَسْرَةً،‏‏‏‏ فَنَعِمَتِ المُرْضِعَةُ،‏‏‏‏ وَبَئِسَتِ الْفَاطِمَةُ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”عنقریب تم لوگ امارت و سرداری کی خواہش کرو گے لیکن وہ باعث ندامت و حسرت ہو گی، اس لیے کہ دودھ پلانے والی کتنی اچھی ہوتی ہے، اور دودھ چھڑانے والی کتنی بری ہوتی ہے“ ۱؎۔
