It was narrated from Anas that: The Messenger of Allah [SAW] used to say: Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi, wal-kasali, wal-bukhli, wal-harami, 'adhabil-qabr wa fitnatil-mahya wal-mamat (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, and miserliness and old age, and the torment of the grave, and the trials of life and death.)

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْبُخْلِ وَالْهَرَمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ .

انس رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فرماتے تھے: «اللہم إني أعوذ بك من العجز والكسل والبخل والهرم وعذاب القبر وفتنة المحيا والممات» ”اے اللہ! میں عاجزی، سستی و کاہلی، بخیلی، بڑھاپے، قبر کے عذاب اور موت و زندگی کے فتنے سے تیری پناہ مانگتا ہوں“۔
