It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud said: “I rarely saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) not fasting on a Friday.”

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ زِرٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَلَّمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُفْطِرُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ .

عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو جمعہ کے دن بہت ہی کم روزہ چھوڑتے ہوئے دیکھا ۱؎ ( جمعہ کے دن روزہ رکھنا نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خصوصیت تھی، اور خاص کر جمعہ کے دن روزہ رکھنے کی ممانعت امت کے لیے ہے ) ۔
