Salman said that one of the idolaters said to him, while they were making fun of him: I see that your companion (the Prophet) is teaching you everything, even how to relieve yourselves? He said: Yes indeed. He has ordered us not to face the Qiblah (prayer direction) nor to clean ourselves with our right hands, and not to be content with anything less than three stones, which are not to include any excrement or bones.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَاسُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ وَالْأَعْمَشُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَلْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ وَهُمْ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ بِهِ:‏‏‏‏ إِنِّي أَرَى صَاحِبَكُمْ يُعَلِّمُكُمْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى الْخِرَاءَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَجَلْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لَا نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَيْمَانِنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا نَكْتَفِيَ بِدُونِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ لَيْسَ فِيهَا رَجِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا عَظْمٌ .

سلمان فارسی رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ان سے کسی مشرک نے بطور استہزاء کے کہا: میں تمہارے ساتھی ( نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) کو دیکھتا ہوں کہ وہ تمہیں ہر چیز سکھاتے ہیں، یہاں تک کہ قضائے حاجت کے آداب بھی بتاتے ہیں! سلمان فارسی رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: ہاں، آپ نے ہمیں حکم دیا ہے کہ ہم قضائے حاجت کے وقت قبلہ کی طرف رخ نہ کریں، دائیں ہاتھ سے استنجاء نہ کریں، اور تین پتھر سے کم استعمال نہ کریں، ان میں کوئی گوبر ہو نہ ہڈی۔
