It was narrated that ‘Ubaid bin Rifa’ah Az-Zuraqi said: “Asma’ said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! The children of Ja’far have been afflicted by the evil eye, shall I recite Ruqyah* for them?’ He said: ‘Yes, for if anything were to overtake the Divine decree it would be the evil eye.’”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ الزُّرَقِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ بَنِي جَعْفَرٍ تُصِيبُهُمُ الْعَيْنُ،‏‏‏‏ فَأَسْتَرْقِي لَهُمْ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ فَلَوْ كَانَ شَيْءٌ سَابَقَ الْقَدَرَ،‏‏‏‏ سَبَقَتْهُ الْعَيْنُ .

عبید بن رفاعہ زرقی کہتے ہیں کہ   اسماء بنت عمیس رضی اللہ عنہا نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! جعفر کے بیٹوں کو نظر بد لگ جاتی ہے، کیا میں ان کے لیے دم کر سکتی ہوں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ہاں، اگر کوئی چیز لکھی ہوئی تقدیر پر سبقت لے جاتی تو نظر بد لے جاتی ۱؎۔
