It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: O Messenger of Allah! Should we bow to one another? He said: No. We said: Should we embrace one another? He said: No, but shake hands with one another.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ حَازِمٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السَّدُوسِيِّ،‏‏‏‏، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَيَنْحَنِي بَعْضُنَا لِبَعْضٍ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا ،‏‏‏‏ قُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ أَيُعَانِقُ بَعْضُنَا بَعْضًا؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا وَلَكِنْ تَصَافَحُوا .

انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ہم نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا ( ملاقات کے وقت ) ہم ایک دوسرے سے جھک کر ملیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہیں ، پھر ہم نے عرض کیا: کیا ہم ایک دوسرے سے معانقہ کریں ( گلے ملیں ) ؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہیں، بلکہ مصافحہ کیا کرو ( ہاتھ سے ہاتھ ملاؤ ) ۔
