It was narrated that ‘Aishah said: “While the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was sitting in the mosque, a woman from Muzainah (tribe) entered, trailing her garment in the mosque. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘O people, tell your women not to wear their adornments and show pride in the mosque, for the Children of Israel were not cursed until their women wore adornments and walked proudly in their places of worship.’”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ بَيْنَمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ،‏‏‏‏ إِذْ دَخَلَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ،‏‏‏‏ تَرْفُلُ فِي زِينَةٍ لَهَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ،‏‏‏‏ انْهَوْا نِسَاءَكُمْ عَنْ لُبْسِ الزِّينَةِ،‏‏‏‏ وَالتَّبَخْتُرِ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ،‏‏‏‏ فَإِنَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ لَمْ يُلْعَنُوا،‏‏‏‏ حَتَّى لَبِسَ نِسَاؤُهُمُ الزِّينَةَ،‏‏‏‏ وَتَبَخْتَرْنَ فِي الْمَسَاجِدِ .

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مسجد میں بیٹھے ہوئے تھے، اتنے میں قبیلہ مزینہ کی ایک عورت مسجد میں بنی ٹھنی اتراتی ہوئی داخل ہوئی، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: لوگو! اپنی عورتوں کو زیب و زینت کا لباس پہن کر اور ناز و ادا کے ساتھ مسجد میں آنے سے منع کرو، کیونکہ بنی اسرائیل پر اللہ تعالیٰ کی لعنت اس وقت آئی تھی جبکہ ان کی عورتوں نے لباس فاخرہ پہننے شروع کئے، اور مسجدوں میں ناز و ادا کے ساتھ داخل ہونے لگیں ۔
