It was narrated that ‘Aishah said: “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, ‘And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear.” [23:60] Is this the one who commits adultery, steals and drinks alcohol?’ He said: ‘No, O daughter of Abu Bakr’ – O daughter of Siddiq – rather it is a man who fasts and gives charity and prays, but he fears that those will not be accepted from him.’”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ مِغْوَلٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْعَائِشَةَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوْا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ سورة المؤمنون آية 60،‏‏‏‏ أَهُوَ يُضَافُ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي يَزْنِي وَيَسْرِقُ وَيَشْرَبُ الْخَمْرَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا،‏‏‏‏ يَا بِنْتَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ أَوْ يَا بِنْتَ الصِّدِّيقِ،‏‏‏‏ وَلَكِنَّهُ الرَّجُلُ يَصُومُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُ وَيُصَلِّي،‏‏‏‏ وَهُوَ يَخَافُ أَنْ لَا يُتَقَبَّلَ مِنْهُ .

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ   میں نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! «والذين يؤتون ما آتوا وقلوبهم وجلة» ( سورة الومنون: 60 ) سے کیا وہ لوگ مراد ہیں جو زنا کرتے ہیں، چوری کرتے ہیں اور شراب پیتے ہیں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہیں: ابوبکر کی بیٹی یا آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: صدیق کی بیٹی! اس سے مراد وہ شخص ہے جو روزے رکھتا ہے، صدقہ دیتا ہے، اور نماز پڑھتا ہے، اور ڈرتا رہتا ہے کہ کہیں ایسا نہ ہو اس کا یہ عمل قبول نہ ہو ۔
