It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “A woman entered Hell because of a cat which she tied up and did not feed, or let it loose to eat of the vermin of the earth, until it died.”

(حديث موقوف) قَالَ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ وَحَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ دَخَلَتِ امْرَأَةٌ النَّارَ فِي هِرَّةٍ رَبَطَتْهَا،‏‏‏‏ فَلَا هِيَ أَطْعَمَتْهَا،‏‏‏‏ وَلَا هِيَ أَرْسَلَتْهَا تَأْكُلُ مِنْ خَشَاشِ الْأَرْضِ حَتَّى مَاتَتْ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ:‏‏‏‏ لِئَلَّا يَتَّكِلَ رَجُلٌ وَلَا يَيْأَسَ رَجُلٌ.

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ایک عورت اس بلی کی وجہ سے جہنم میں داخل ہوئی جس کو اس نے باندھ رکھا تھا، وہ نہ اس کو کھانا دیتی تھی، اور نہ چھوڑتی ہی تھی کہ وہ زمین کے کیڑے مکوڑے کھا لے یہاں تک کہ وہ مر گئی ۔ زہری کہتے ہیں: ( ان دونوں حدیثوں سے یہ معلوم ہوا کہ ) کوئی آدمی نہ اپنے عمل پر بھروسہ کرے اور نہ اللہ تعالیٰ کی رحمت سے مایوس ہی ہو۔
