Famous Verse of Surah Lail
Here is the famous verse of Surah Lail on how temporary the world is, why nothing matters at the end but only good deeds:
وَمَا يُغْنِى عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ (11)
And their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they tumble ˹into Hell˺.
Importance of the Oaths of Surah Al-Lail
In Surah Lail, Allah (SWT) opens by presenting strong oaths, swearing by them night as it covers, and day as it appears. The oaths are important because they draw our attention to the physical world and the strong opposites present in everyone's life. Night and day show the stark contrast of change and balance in the world around us. By swearing on them, Allah (SWT) is underscoring that the differences present in people are as clear and real to those people who make these life choices.
The night represents darkness, quietness, and restfulness at times, and even hidden or rough times. The day represents brightness, activity, and clarity. The two signs of nature remind us that while night and day may be opposites, they are balanced, just like the choices made by people - some are very generous and good, while others consistently choose to deny and be selfish.
