An earth quake is a term
generally referred to the condition of the earth in which the abnormal and
dangerous process occurs under the surface of the earth. There are many types of
earth quakes. The water earth quake is an earth quake that occurs under the
surface of the sea, oceans and the marine waters. The sea water earth quake is
mostly caused by the sea water waves. There are short period waves and long
period waves, the short period waves is caused by the blowing of wind over a
water surface. Aside from these waves there are long period waves that disturbs
the marine environment. These long period waves collectively a cause of the
large water earth quake that is tsunami. It is one of the most devastating
effect of the marine and ocean waters. The 1945 tsunami oceanic earthquake was
the most destructive known earth quake in the of Arabian Sea and Makran coast.
An 8.1 magnitude earthquake was generated in the Karachi which caused a huge
tsunami, and a massive destruction has occurred in the coast of Ormara and Pasni
. The effective or safety measures for tsunami exist, such as tsunami warning
system but in underwater only one in ten large earthquakes causes recordable
destruction. The small shallow earthquake that causes inner movement of the
ocean bottom will cause a tsunami. The chances of origin of tsunami appears with
its single pulse as it start to travel with the speed of the shallow sea
surface. The speed of the tsunami is slow down as it moves into shallow water.
To overcome the chances of destruction of tsunami a specialized seismic system
network is used worldwide by which the location and time of the earthquake is
easily determined. By this system it is possibly find the time of the arrival of
earthquake in a targeted location. In many countries continental shelf occurs as
wave reflector and as an absorber of tsunami wave energy along the bottom.
That`s why chances of tsunami are rare in t in the region with wide continental
shelf.
