Federal Government Negligence, No bus service & convocation in FUUAST

Federal Urdu University of Arts Science & Technology(FUUAST) is one of the leading university of Pakistan, It have two campuses in Karachi , which are operating from November 2002 under ordinance No. CXIV of 2002 promulgated by the President of Pakistan as per provision of this ordinance the university has its principal seat at Islamabad .

It started Functioning from November 2002 by taking over two Federal government colleges namely Federal Urdu Science College ,Karachi which were established in 1949 by Baba-e-urdu Dr.Moulvi Abdul Haq ,Unfortunately by passing almost 17 years of period till yet there is no official bus service of the university which we also called University points. Large number of students enrolled in this university who come to attend classes in the two campuses of university one is situated in gushan-e-iqbal and another is situated behind civil hospital. Students came here from different areas of the city for the transport issue they came late in the university because there is lack of public transport in the city. Which effect badly on their studies and they suffer from depression.

On 11th March 2017 Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhter donated two buses to Federal Urdu university Gulshan campus after the incident of road accident which took two girls life’s who were studying in fuuast. It was happened in front of FUUAST main gate where students were waiting for public transport on the road and they were hit by the bus . This was absolutely a good initiative of Mayor Karachi for donating two buses to FUUAST Gulshan campus but these buses were not sufficient to fulfill the transport need of every student. And Unfortunately these buses still stand in the premises of university with covered full of dust. At least ten buses needed for each campus to fulfill students demand. On the other hand I would like to inform the readers that this is not a responsibility of Mayor Karachi to provide buses to FUUAST because it is operated under federal government and it is their responsibility to provide buses and fulfill every rightful demand of university students and teachers. Many times students and teachers unions have raised this issue with the concern authority of university but the management is still not taking this issue seriously.

I would also like to mention the issue of convocation also , as per news reports from last more than seven years there is no convocation held in the university. Convocations held in every public and even in private universities to acknowledge pass out students but unfortunately this is also not a priority of FUUAST administration.

Senior Educationist Talat Shakeel shared that, FUUAST management and federal government should have to look into the matter and resolve the issues on priority basis , as these issues directly linked with the future of young generation. Further she expressed hope that PTI’s federal government will resolve this issue as soon as possible, because promotion of education is in the priority list of PTI’s agenda.

PTI’s Federal Government 100 days have passed but the issue of FUUAST is still not resolve ,It is the basic responsibility of President of Pakistan Chancellor of FUUAST, Shafqat Mehmood (Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training) and Vice Chancellor of University ,to resolve the pertaining issues of FUUAST ,as promotion of education is in the top most priority list of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf federal government.
