Mental Preparation

Alexander Graham Bell is well
known for his hard work and contributions. He once said that “before anything
else, preparation is the key to success”. Preparation is a physical and mental
alert to what is required, how to get it, when it is going to be utilized and
what are the outcomes. Are the objectives achieved? Mental preparation makes us
aware of all the hazards that can come in our way. It also helps to keep the
balance thus keeping us away from sudden shocks and falling into traps. The
dilemma of emotional shock and confusion we are going through as a nation is an
outcome of having no mental alerts that incidents like that of Abbottabad can
happen. So when something does happen we remain in a state of mental paralysis
unable to think, reason out and take action. Gone are the days when there was
time enough to think, and find solutions. Now is the time to foresee the coming
situation and have ready made option handy with us on how to handle it. Today,
quick understanding of what is happening around, its relevance to us, priority
of issues and finding solutions is the key to success. There is also a need to
think before placing thoughts into words because ill timed or wrong worded
statements may also cause embarrassment. There are always lessons to be learnt
from incidents and experiences. Most important is to be mentally prepared, have
strong shock absorbers and finding out ways to overcome unexpected.
