View this post on Instagram Chaos is an essential part of the process for the team at @byfutura, a creative studio in Mexico City. “Our work is based on constant experimentation,” said Daniel Martínez, Futura's art director. The team is “hellbent on disrupting traditional forms of design,” he added. As they reinterpret their environment—“and try not to get stuck in it”—Futura's team hopes to change the way design is both developed and consumed in Mexico. Recently, we visited their offices to see how they work. At any given time, they're digging into somewhere between 12 and 16 different projects, collaborating with clients around the world. Daniel introduced us to one recent effort: @blendstation_, Futura's first coffee shop in Mexico City. The Blend Station concept was based on the experience of drinking coffee: “wakening, feeling ideas flowing, feeling good,” Daniel explained. “It’s how your morning changes with a good cup of coffee, all in a playful and imaginative way.” As they developed ideas for the project—which included branding, identity, illustration, interior design, naming and packaging design—they envisioned themselves as clients there. 📸: @byfutura This story is part of #BehindTheDesign, a series that explores the processes and workspaces of designers from across the world.
