Evening Directorate’s Unfair Policies At Ku
(Hafiz Muhammad Noman, Karachi)
Some of my friends who are the
students of Mass Communication Department in the evening at University of
Karachi regretfully told me about mismanagement and wrong decisions by the
evening directorate how badly the students are entertained!
They said that they are the students of MA (Final Year) 3rd semester. From the
very first semester, they have continuously been observing that evening
directorate always announces tuition and examination fees when last 10 days of
any month are left! Usually the dates for fees submission are 20 to 24th of a
month in which a semester starts! It is noticeable that people usually bag their
salaries amid the starting 10 days of a month and a large piece of their
salaries is spent till the date of 20th of a month! Hence it is approximately
impossible to arrange fees on above mentioned dates!
On the other hand, if a person cannot submit their fees till the given or
suggested dates, the evening directorate immediately issues another date for
fees submission whereas late fees charges or fines are also included in total
fee which is one more extreme or bad situation for the students!
One thing to remember is that the students in the morning pay their fees
approximately 3000 and some rupees whereas the students in the evening programs
pay Rs. 13,500 approximately for the same disciplines whereas some other charges
are excluded of the fees! Also the late fee in the morning is not so much but
evening students are burdened approximately 1500 rupees after one week and one
hundred rupees are added every week for late fee unless a student pays his fee
which is condemnable! Apparently it feels that evening directorate plays a
double game with the students to earn a lot of money! It is also noticeable that
students in the evening are not given or provided any facility even they pay a
huge amount of money whereas students in the morning avail various facilities
and one of them is KU points or buses mainly which every student thinks is a
dire need for them!
Apart from these, the staff of the evening directorate who collects fees from
the students usually leaves their seats earlier than their official timings and
students who are at the office to submit their fees are said to pay or submit
their fees another day which shows a complete disorder at University of Karachi!
Furthermore, the timings for fees submission are conflicting with the class
timings and the students have to leave their classes or precious lectures by
their teachers due to inconvenient or unsuitable timings!
It is said that those who are doing jobs join evening programs but the situation
is not so! A lot of students who could not take admission in the morning due to
any mishap or problem are learning in the evening in abundance and they are
compelled to pay a huge amount of fee unfortunately and KU administration
doesn’t feel any pity for them!
I request to the concerned authorities to please consider evening students’
plights and don’t play with their emotions and feelings and provide them their
basic needs and always issue those dates on which students can easily pay their
fees! Have mercy upon the students!
