Models: Humanity’s Perspective
(Dr. Shakira Nandini, Karachi)
Modeling is a profession that is generally viewed unfavorably in society, leading to a lack of respect for models. The roots of this issue lie in societal traditions, culture, and perceptions of sexuality. Often, people consider the activities of models to be immoral, which results in them not being given a place in society.
First, the choice to become a model is entirely their own. They have complete freedom to make decisions about their lives. However, society does not accept this freedom. Many individuals judge these models solely based on their appearance and profession, overlooking their human emotions and thoughts.
Second, models do not receive the respect they deserve because societal mindsets weaken their status. This is not only due to their profession but also because they are viewed merely as sexual objects. In reality, they are human beings with desires, dreams, and emotions.
Third, the topic of modeling often leads to debates and discussions. This is influenced not only by societal norms but also by religious principles that do not socially accept them. In this context, the lack of respect for models reflects a larger social issue that highlights the need for societal change and understanding.
Ultimately, we need to reassess our views on models. They should be regarded as human beings like the rest of us, and there is a need to separate their personality and character from their professional lives. For a better society, we must respect every individual, regardless of their choices.
