Ranger Officials Restrict Entry Of Vehicles In KU, Students Worried
(Hafiz Muhammad Noman, Karachi)
Ranger officials have
restricted entry of private transport including bikes, cars etc. in University
of Karachi due to which students have greatly been in trouble.
The ranger officials have been instructed by the administration of KU to stop
any vehicles entering the university and park them at the entry due to which
students have to go to their destinations or departments on foot. It is learned
that University of Karachi has over 52 departments and 19 research centers/
institutes that are too far from the entry gates of the university and it is
difficult enough for the students to go to their departments on foot.
There are two usual gates from where the students enter the university, (i)
Maskan gate and (ii) the gate next to Sheikh Zayed Islamic Center. Both the
entry gates are too far from every department and a lot of students enter
through these two gates and they have to daily travel a long distance walking on
foot owing to which not only they miss their classes but they are tired and
mentally disturbed and cannot concentrate on the lectures properly.
It is reported that the ranger officials have been instructed to ask the
students to show them entry passes if they want to take their vehicles along
with them whereas the students said that previously entry passes were issued
through the concerned authorities but now despite their exertions to get the
passes, no entry passes were issued whereas the ranger officials ask them to
show the passes!
Especially the evening students are the real victims of these kinds of
activities, said the students adding that students in the evening get admission
on self-finance and they have to pay a lot of money per semester whereas they
are not even provided KU’s points that are the most affordable conveyance in
this era of inflation. Sometimes, the KU’s points start to facilitate the
evening students temporarily but they are stopped again and again whereas the
students in the morning are very fortunate and avail all the facilities and
their fees are too less than the evening students.
The students have demanded the administration of University of Karachi to let
them enter with their vehicles in the university and useless check-posts of
rangers at the entry gates of KU should be removed forthwith so that the
students can get friendly and better learning environment.
