Jealousy -A curse passion

(Syed Manazir-ul-Haq, Karachi)

It is said that emotion and human are closely attached to each other and no body is free from emotional tendency. In fact passions reflect our thinking and personality. The reaction which we display on any incident or on any substance it is called passion or emotion. For example if any person gets Rs.10.00 million on a prize bond he would become so happy and his passion would be known as emotion of happiness. In the other way if a close relative of anybody dies it affects him deeply with sorrow it is known as the passion of sadness. The happiness and sorrow run with the human beings and no body is free from it. It is blessing of Allah that He has created pairs of each substance like life and death, happiness and grief and so on. If the second opponent had not created we would have never been enjoyed with the first substance. We should enjoy expressing thanks to Allah on former passion and take patience on the latter because Allah says: “I am with the patients”. But in spite of this there are many kinds of passion to which we can divide briefly in two types: One positive passion and the other negative. Positive passion is known as proud and the negative passion is known as Jealousy. When one person gets happy over the progress and development of other person and makes potential efforts to become the same it is known as pompous or Rushk ) (Urdu terminology). On the other hand if a person feels anger and disgust over the growth of others and wants he should fall into dell it is known as jealousy which only harms the jealous person in the world and in the doomsday. The positive ardor puts healthy and good effects on the personality of mankind. Such man has a balanced personality. Contrary to this, negative passions spoil the character of man and his individuality becomes unbalanced. He not only for himself but also for his family invites countless problems. He becomes unwanted persona of society and leads a failure life. Because the sentiment of anybody is not limited to himself but affects on to others and in this way the features of individuality of anybody become obvious. For example to feel sorrow to see others in trouble and the passion of helping him to remove his difficulties is extremely good and best passion. Against this to feel happiness to see others in trouble is outright negative passion. True and sincere sympathy to others, good dealing and good thinking for them all of this is vital passions. Only the positive emotions and healthy thinking make man great in true means. Contrary to this desire and lust, greed, unfaithful to others, torching and jealousy are tremendously negative passions that by making man ill mentally push him into the curse of well. Although all negative emotions are pest or irritation yet among them jealously is the worst passion. In fact jealousy is such passion which feels unhappiness by heart, being seen others into prosperous. This passion puts man into fire and torture. A jealous man always tries to hurt others – he desires that opponents always fall on into misery and he feels happiness and glad over others’ misery.

Jealousy in fact is the name of such happiness which is felt when others fall into trouble, danger and hit by lack of livelihood. A jealous person not only destroys his world but also ruins his judgment day because the jealousy is also the curse and bad passion before Almighty Allah and his prophets. Therefore the emperor of time and space, prophet of Allah and the greatest reformer once said: “Jealousy engulfs the good deeds such as the fire burns the woods”. It means that all good deeds of jealous man even Prayers, Fast, Zakat and Pilgrimage are not accepted by Allah rightly said rejected. In this way a jealous man is remained willing-less in the world and day after life. Jealousy is the worst mental and spiritual disease. A jealous man always runs into fire and displeases being seen to others into pleasure. Thus he only irritates his heart and can never lead an agreeable and relief life. Allah may save all of us from the worst deed like jealousy Aameen.
