31/2013 this evening is that two hundred and three people are shot and killed in
USA just today. The killing in Chicago in the last 5 years have surpassed
Afghanistan 's military causalities. While living in Chicago suburbs every day I
listen and watch the news of murders, shootings and gun violence of the gangs.
Yesterday a teenage girl lost her life due to gun violence. The teen had
performed in Obama's in inauguration ceremony.
The gun control laws are not strict in United states. Guns openly sold and
available to criminals and gangs in arms stores have turned this country in a
total fiasco. After the everyday toll of gun violence ,murders, the increasing
incidences of mass shootings and killings, the citizens are getting desperate to
control the guns and gun violence.
It has finally forced Washington to rethink about its gun policy.
Emotions are running high on TV talk shows , Senate and congress floors and
halls. It has forced NRA to re-think about adopting gun reforms and to adopt a
moderate policy.
Former US Rep Gabrielle Giffords who was shot and wounded on her head two years
ago in Tuscan , AZ during her public meeting outside a Safeway store. She
survived while nine others lost their lives. She has gone through a lot of
surgeries and rehabilitation process. In her trembling and breaking voice she
said ," too many children are dying, too many children we must do some thing. It
was very difficult for her to deliver her statement. Yet she tried her best to
represent herself and her voice in the Gun control movement.
This is the greatest irony that the country and the super power who wants to
guard the whole world and to impose its world order on other nations is
absolutely helpless to put its own house in order and control.
