Reflections of colours on your life

(Faisal Arshad, Karachi)

Colours say a lot about your personality. They express the mood, perceptions and attitude of people. Your choice of colour can significantly impact how you think of yourself and how others see you. Colour choice for your outfit, home and even food can be one of the primary determinants of your aesthetic appreciation.

So which colours are cool? Which ones are boring?

The best we can do to have better colour preferences is to identify best choices of people based on perceptions and feelings. So here I discuss what others have felt and found about certain colours.

Reflections of Blue
Blue is the top choice for both men and women, although men favor it to a higher extent. For women, shades like cobalt, azure, navy and sky blue are more appealing. It might be that the calmness of the color renders it a high priority, especially with reference to choice for outfits and buildings.

Reflections of Green
Green is the color of nature. It is cool, restful, and signifies growth, renewal, health, and environment. Women are particularly attracted to green because theyfeel (or want to feel) closer to these things.

Reflections of Turquoise
Turquoise is a mix of blue and green, both being cool colors. Again, turquoise will appeal you every time you get a little bored with the origins of the color.

Reflections of Purple and Pink
These have traditionally been termed as feminine or baby colors. Further, purples shades like magenta and violet and pink shades like blush, flash, rose and hot pink are all favored by women. The spiritual, romantic and mysterious nature of these colors gets them the top shelves of a woman’s wardrobe.

Practically speaking, labelling a colour as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ is not a good approach when choosing a colour scheme. Remember, an applaud for choosing burgundy for your kitchen tiles does not guarantee subsequent applauses if the choice is retained in, say, your purse.

In choosing a colour, consider various tints and shades before making a final decision. Pick the one that fits you best, but don’t forget that your choice do matter for other people. After all, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder.
