Loadshedding in Balochistan
(Zarak Khan Babar, Karachi)
Balochistan has been
facing 16 to 18 hours of loadshedding in all the district headquarters. The
electricity crisis in the province has been intensified as, according to sources
in Qesco, only 450MW power against the demand of 1250MW is being provided to the
province, leaving a shortfall of 800MW. Eight-hour loadshedding was being
experienced in the provincial capital, they added. The worst affected areas are
Qila Abdullah, Zhob, Turbat, Pishin, Kuchlak, Panjgour and Sibi which have been
facing unannounced loadshedding. The resident of several districts vented their
spleen over the prolonged loadshedding which was multiplying their hardships.
The people regretted they had been deprived of drinking water as tube-wells were
not working due to unavailability of electricity. Meanwhile, the Pepco said the
power shortfall reached up to 4,300MW. A company spokesman said the power
generation was 14536MW against the demand of 18578MW.
People of Balochistan are facing severe problems due to loadshedding.Higher
Authorities should take notice of the unannounced loadshedding.
