CHANGING DYNAMICS OF HIGHER EDUCATION
(NAZISH ISHTIAQ, KARACHI)
Universities and higher
educational institutions are the most important producers of knowledge, which is
the driving force for prosperity and increased standard of living. Education is
the only system which ensures continuous availability of higher level expertise
and trained manpower, unfortunately, in almost all the national development
plan, it is considered to be competitive with mass literacy and primary
education.
Higher Education in Pakistan is faced with multifarious problems.
Higher Education has a positive and negative affect on economic growth and
unemployment respectively.
Teachers who have received training are better instructors then those who have
not received.
An International language should be compulsory at all levels.
Higher education is meant to develop the ability of a student to think clearly,
logically and honestly and to promote clear and critical thinking skills in
student; the teacher himself/herself needs to be very much clear in his /her
capabilities, duties and responsibilities. The quality of higher education
includes the physical facilities as well as the faculty, curriculum and the
actual dynamics of teaching and learning. The target of quality higher education
can only be achieved by bringing some revolutionary changes to ensure better
planning, more funding, enhanced physical facilities, on going monitoring,
meaningful research, good faculty, faculty training, relevant syllabus,
effective classroom dynamics and better educational governance.
Quality is the means through which an institution can guarantee with confidence
and certainty, that the standards of its educational provision are being
maintained and enhanced.
