(Azad67, Peshawer)

Mir Chakar Khan was a dacoit from Sibi who grew very powerful in 16th century. He gathered an army of robbers and bandits and led several plundering expeditions into the Punjab. According to some accounts, Mir Chakar Rind used to drink the blood of his deceased enemies in their skulls. Whether this account is really true , is debatable bv Mir Chakar had fearsome reputation, he used to burn down entire villages after looting it, would kill men and sell women and children of peasants into slavery.

The tales of this barbarities reached to the Delhi court. According to Abbas khan sherwani, some jat peasants from province of Multan had come to the emperor of India, Sher Shah, pleading for help and action against the scourge by name of Mir Chakar. Sher Shah Suri immediately dispatched his most trusted general, Haibat Khan Niazi to restore law and order in Punjab. Haibat khan Niazi sought the help of three Baloch sardars, Ismael khan, Ghazi khan and Fateh Khan in blocking the exit to Balochistan. Then he started hunting down the marauders. Mir chakar successfully avoided the capture but he lost most of his men. At one point Mir Chakar and his men unexpectedly came across an Afghan party. In the ensuing battle, mir chakar rind and all of his men were slaughtered by Afghans. Local people buried him in the Okara. After his death, peace was largely restored in Multan province.
