Zahida Kazmi a 53 years old lady from Islamabad driving her taxi which she
bought in 1992 when there was a government scheme in which person can buy taxi
through easy installments, government can now start a similar scheme for
underprivileged ladies in Pakistan where women have very few career
opportunities .The scheme should include cabs for women at low price and women
should be given proper driving lessons and tactics to cope in an emergency
situation such as sexual harassment which most of women face in workforce. It
would be a great idea for the security of women who travel almost every day to
their workplaces or educational institutions keeping in view the current
security issues of country where women doesn’t feel secure to travel with a
stranger man but they cannot avoid it because they have to fulfill the needs of
their families. This idea can contribute in many ways for social development
such as creation of new image of Pakistan and show the rest of the world that
perception of a typical Pakistani housewife and dependent woman is now going to
be changed and it can also create an opportunity for increment in women
workforce as according to UN just 15 percent of Pakistan’s workforce are women.
Women should feel confident about this occupation and they must inspire Miss
Zahida Kazmi who came out and fought the war of survival of herself and her
children and she used to keep a gun in her car and a veil covering her from head
to toe. Women have to be ready to face social challenges to make brighter future
for their upcoming generations and this will be a practical step towards
fulfilling slogan of women rights. This idea will take a practical shape by the
cooperation between government, social organizations, family support and courage
of women
