Jihad In Islam
(Iqra Sheikh, Manama, Bahrain)
What Jihad Is...??
According to the modern English Dictionary, the definition of Jihad is a "Holy
War' by the Muslims against the unbelievers". But Islamically, Jihad is an
Arabic word from the root 'Jee Ha Da'. It literally means to struggle or strive.
Jihad is struggling or striving in the way or sake of Allah. In a religious
sense, as described by the Qur'an and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW),
"jihad" has many meanings. It can refer to internal as well as external efforts
to be a good Muslims or believer, as well as working to inform people about the
faith of Islam.
There is nothing “Holy” about wars. Wars only involve killings and
disasters...!!
Jihad has many forms,
-Jihad of the heart/soul: Jihad-bin-Nafs.
-Jihad by the tongue: Jihad-bil-Lisan.
-Jihad by the pen/knowledge: Jihad-bil-Qalam.
-Jihad by hand: Jidad-bin-Yad
and in the end it comes,
-Jihad by the sword: Jihad-bis-Saif. (as self_defence)
What Jihad Is Not...??
-Jihad is NOT Holy War.
-Jihad is NOT a violent concept.
-Jihad is NOT a declaration of war against other religions.
-Jihad is NOT killing innocent people.
-Jihad is NOT fighting out of anger and hatred.
-Jihad is NOT killing others just because they don’t agree with you.
Jihad is NOT killing others just because they are not Muslims.
