The year’s about to end and we
all want to look fabulous for next year and the ongoing wedding season. No need
to rush to salons for your expensive cleansing facials when you can whip up some
homemade DIYs (Do it yourself) facial masks. They are effective and less harmful
than creams or any other expensive brightening products. Here’s the following:
1. Oat meal:
Oatmeal is nature’s cleanser and packed with fiber, omega-3 acids, thiamine, and
iron. It boosts the immune system and regulates cholesterol level, however if
you aren’t a fan of consuming oat meal then use it as your cleanser. It’s great
for sensitive and dry skin types or those who have acne or red patches (skin
allergy). Take your oatmeal in your palm, wet it with warm water and apply it on
your face in circular motions; the oatmeal should be of a saturated consistency.
Wait for it to dry and wash it off with lukewarm water. Oatmeal is
anti-inflammatory which means it can soothe dry, itchy skin. It removes dirt and
impurities and exfoliates the skin, leaving it brighter. It is high in
anti-oxidants which protects the skin from free radicals. Apply a moisturizer
after patting skin dry.
2. Green tea scrub:
Green tea can be made into a great exfoliator for the skin as it has many
anti-oxidants, which help fight acne. Make your green tea, you can either use
tea bags or green tea leaves. After you brew your tea, don’t throw those leaves
away as they will be your exfoliators. Separate the tea leaves and add one table
spoon of pure honey. Mix it well and apply it on your face, make sure to apply
it on your acne and acne scars. Add one table spoon of rice flour for the
removal of acne scars. This mask is great for exfoliating your skin; it will
brighten it and will help fight acne. Use this mask at least once a week for
best results.
3. Lemon and Yoghurt face mask:
If you’re tanned or have some discoloration on your skin, fear not as nature’s
natural bleacher – lemon is here to brighten up those areas. Yoghurt is a
soother for the skin and is ideal for sensitive skin types, combine it with
lemon juice and it could brighten up the complexion. There are less harmful than
the bleaching or whitening creams in the market, all natural and with no
chemicals they do wonders for your skin. Take one table spoon of plain yoghurt
and lemon juice, mix it well and apply it on freshly washed face. Rinse it off
after it dries.

and one tea spoon of honey, mix it well. Apply it on face and rinse it off after
15 minutes. This mask is a great skin brightener and it will help soothe the
skin in dry weathers.
5. Egg mask:
Crack your eggs and separate your egg whites. With clean fingers apply the egg
whites all over your face, this will tighten pores and brighten your complexion.
It’s amazing for oily skin types and a natural blackhead remover. Fold your
tissue into strips and place it on your problem area. Brush some egg white on
tissues and let it dry on your skin. Don’t move or talk while the tissue is
drying, remove the tissue after it dries and you would notice a sudden decrease
in your blackheads. Repeat the process every week if black heads don’t
disappear.

best friend. Slice up a lemon and sprinkle some granulated sugar on the lemon,
rub it on your skin in circular motions. The sugar will exfoliate the skin
whereas the lemon will act as brightener. Wash it off after a couple of minutes
and do this everyday for best results.
