The Pro Vice-Chancellor of the
Balochistan University, Dr Safdar Kiyani, was killed on 22nd April. According to
Dawn two people on a motorbike opened fire on Dr Kiyani when he came out of his
house in Green Town on Sariab road for an evening walk. He was died on the spot.
Professor Kiyani, 60, had been associated with the teaching profession for 30
years. He had joined the Balochistan University as a lecturer in 1979.
These sort of news are really alarming for the government to check the law and
order situation in the country. Assassination of a teacher is even more harsh
and painful to see. The progress and development of any society depends on the
teachers. These are the people who educate a person and make him civilized and
useful asset of society.
In our country teachers are not save. These are not politicians or landlords;
these are the educators. These are the people who lit the lights in the close
dark minds and hearts. Isn’t it painful to tolerate the present situation?
How we are treating to the real makers of society? The answer is indeed ‘not so
well’.
I , being student strongly condemn this act of shame and ask the government to
strictly look into the matter. The killers should be arrested soon and should be
given ruthless punishment so that no one again dares to even think this.
