IN THE NAME OF "GHAIRAT"

(Samina Khan, islamabad)

Mehram Mera

O' God! tell me what to do ?Said Raano with her eyes full of tears.

My husband, a drug addict use to leave me for months , sometimes for years. Leaving all responsibilities on my shoulders. He never realized the problems I faced alone ,never thought of how I raised my kids .He only appears like a nightmare to get all my savings .My eight years daughter has to look after the kids in my absence.

Yesterday when I went home tired, there was nothing to cook. With heavy feet, Unintentionally I went to Ramzan lala's shop who was the only one shopkeeper that lend me grocery. Lala was about to close his shop when I reached there. With half shutter down he went inside to bring the stuff. At the very same moment my husband who was away from past six months ,coming from the other end saw me standing there and took it in wrong sense ,as if I was also in the shop.

That was enough for his GHAIRAT. My 'GHAIRATMAND HUSBAND’ abused, slapped and dragged me to home beating brutally .Took all money and left early in the morning for no reason ,for an uncertain period. Ahh! and me? Going to work with bruises all over my face and body because ghairat does not include responsibility.
