Aishah narrated that: The Messenger of Allah said: Al-Fitr is the day that the people break the fast, and Al-Adha is the day that the people sacrifice.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْيَمَانِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ الْفِطْرُ يَوْمَ يُفْطِرُ النَّاسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْأَضْحَى يَوْمَ يُضَحِّي النَّاسُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلْتُ مُحَمَّدًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ سَمِعَ مِنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ صَحِيحٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”عید الفطر کا دن وہ ہے جب لوگ عید منائیں، اور عید الاضحی کا دن وہ ہے جس دن لوگ قربانی کریں“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث، اس سند سے حسن غریب صحیح ہے، ۲- میں نے محمد بن اسماعیل بخاری سے پوچھا: کیا محمد بن منکدر نے عائشہ سے سنا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہاں، وہ اپنی روایت میں کہتے ہیں: میں نے عائشہ سے سنا۔
