حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ قَدِمَ مَكَّةَ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ سَبْعًا وَأَتَى الْمَقَامَ فَقَرَأَ:‏‏‏‏ وَاتَّخِذُوا مِنْ مَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى سورة البقرة آية 125 فَصَلَّى خَلْفَ الْمَقَامِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ أَتَى الْحَجَرَ فَاسْتَلَمَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَبْدَأُ بِمَا بَدَأَ اللَّهُ بِهِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَبَدَأَ بِالصَّفَا وَقَرَأَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةَ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ سورة البقرة آية 158 . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ أَنَّهُ يَبْدَأُ بِالصَّفَا قَبْلَ الْمَرْوَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ بَدَأَ بِالْمَرْوَةِ قَبْلَ الصَّفَا لَمْ يُجْزِهِ وَبَدَأَ بِالصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاخْتَلَفَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ فِيمَنْ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَطُفْ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ حَتَّى رَجَعَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ:‏‏‏‏ الْعِلْمِ إِنْ لَمْ يَطُفْ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ حَتَّى خَرَجَ مِنْ مَكَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ ذَكَرَ وَهُوَ قَرِيبٌ مِنْهَا رَجَعَ فَطَافَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنْ لَمْ يَذْكُرْ حَتَّى أَتَى بِلَادَهُ أَجْزَأَهُ وَعَلَيْهِ دَمٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ وقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ:‏‏‏‏ إِنْ تَرَكَ الطَّوَافَ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ حَتَّى رَجَعَ إِلَى بِلَادِهِ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُجْزِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ الشَّافِعِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ الطَّوَافُ بَيْنَ الصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ وَاجِبٌ لَا يَجُوزُ الْحَجُّ إِلَّا بِهِ.

Urdu Translation

جابر رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جس وقت مکہ آئے تو آپ نے بیت اللہ کے سات چکر لگائے اور یہ آیت پڑھی: «‏‏‏‏ ( واتخذوا من مقام إبراهيم مصلى» ”مقام ابراہیم کو مصلی بناؤ یعنی وہاں نماز پڑھو“ ( البقرہ: ۱۲۵ ) ، پھر مقام ابراہیم کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی، پھر حجر اسود کے پاس آئے اور اس کا استلام کیا پھر فرمایا: ”ہم ( سعی ) اسی سے شروع کریں گے جس سے اللہ نے شروع کیا ہے۔ چنانچہ آپ نے صفا سے سعی شروع کی اور یہ آیت پڑھی: «إن الصفا والمروة من شعائر الله» ”صفا اور مروہ اللہ کی نشانیوں میں سے ہیں“ ( البقرہ: ۱۵۸ ) ۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اسی پر اہل علم کا عمل ہے کہ سعی مروہ کے بجائے صفا سے شروع کی جائے۔ اگر کسی نے صفا کے بجائے مروہ سے سعی شروع کر دی تو یہ سعی کافی نہ ہو گی اور سعی پھر سے صفا سے شروع کرے گا، ۳- اہل علم کا اس شخص کے بارے میں اختلاف ہے کہ جس نے بیت اللہ کا طواف کیا اور صفا اور مروہ کے درمیان سعی نہیں کی، یہاں تک کہ واپس گھر چلا گیا، بعض اہل علم کہتے ہیں کہ اگر کسی نے صفا و مروہ کے درمیان سعی نہیں کی یہاں تک کہ وہ مکہ سے باہر نکل آیا پھر اسے یاد آیا، اور وہ مکے کے قریب ہے تو واپس جا کر صفا و مروہ کی سعی کرے۔ اور اگر اسے یاد نہیں آیا یہاں تک کہ وہ اپنے ملک واپس آ گیا تو اسے کافی ہو جائے گا لیکن اس پر دم لازم ہو گا، یہی سفیان ثوری کا قول ہے۔ اور بعض کہتے ہیں کہ اگر اس نے صفا و مروہ کے درمیان سعی چھوڑ دی یہاں تک کہ اپنے ملک واپس آ گیا تو یہ اسے کافی نہ ہو گا۔ یہ شافعی کا قول ہے، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ صفا و مروہ کے درمیان سعی واجب ہے، اس کے بغیر حج درست نہیں۔

English Translation

Jabir narrated: When the Prophet arrived in Makkah, he performed seven (circuits) of Tawaf around the House. Then he came to the Maqam and said: And take you (people) the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim as a place of prayer. Then he prayed behind the Maqam. Then he came to the (Black) Stone to touch it. Then he said: 'We begin with what Allah began with.' So he began at As-Safa and recited: Indeed As-Safa and Al-Marwah are among the Symbols of Allah.
