حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ وَهْبَ بْنَ كَيْسَانَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عُمَرَ بْنَ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، يَقُولُ : كُنْتُ غُلَامًا فِي حَجْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَكَانَتْ يَدِي تَطِيشُ فِي الصَّحْفَةِ ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَا غُلَامُ ، سَمِّ اللَّهَ وَكُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ ، فَمَا زَالَتْ تِلْكَ طِعْمَتِي بَعْدُ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے علی بن عبداللہ مدینی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو سفیان ثوری نے خبر دی، کہا کہ مجھے ولید بن کثیر نے خبر دی، انہوں نے وہب بن کیسان سے سنا، انہوں نے عمر بن ابی سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ   میں بچہ تھا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی پرورش میں تھا اور ( کھاتے وقت ) میرا ہاتھ برتن میں چاروں طرف گھوما کرتا۔ اس لیے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھ سے فرمایا کہ بیٹے! بسم اللہ پڑھ لیا کرو، داہنے ہاتھ سے کھایا کرو اور برتن میں وہاں سے کھایا کرو جو جگہ تجھ سے نزدیک ہو۔ چنانچہ اس کے بعد میں ہمیشہ اسی ہدایت کے مطابق کھاتا رہا۔

English Translation

Narrated `Umar bin Abi Salama: I was a boy under the care of Allah's Apostle and my hand used to go around the dish while I was eating. So Allah's Apostle said to me, 'O boy! Mention the Name of Allah and eat with your right hand, and eat of the dish what is nearer to you. Since then I have applied those instructions when eating.
