حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : أَثْنَى رَجُلٌ عَلَى رَجُلٍ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : وَيْلَكَ قَطَعْتَ عُنُقَ أَخِيكَ ثَلَاثًا ، مَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مَادِحًا لَا مَحَالَةَ ، فَلْيَقُلْ : أَحْسِبُ فُلَانًا وَاللَّهُ حَسِيبُهُ وَلَا أُزَكِّي عَلَى اللَّهِ أَحَدًا إِنْ كَانَ يَعْلَمُ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے موسیٰ بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے وہیب نے بیان کیا، ان سے خالد نے، ان سے عبدالرحمٰن بن ابی بکرہ نے اور ان سے ان کے والد نے بیان کیا کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے ایک شخص نے دوسرے شخص کی تعریف کی۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا افسوس «ويلك» تم نے اپنے بھائی کی گردن کاٹ دی، تین مرتبہ ( یہ فرمایا ) اگر تمہیں کسی کی تعریف ہی کرنی پڑ جائے تو یہ کہو کہ فلاں کے متعلق میرا یہ خیال ہے۔ اگر وہ بات اس کے متعلق جانتا ہو اور اللہ اس کا نگراں ہے میں تو اللہ کے مقابلے میں کسی کو نیک نہیں کہہ سکتا یعنی یوں نہیں کہہ سکتا کہ وہ اللہ کے علم میں بھی نیک ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Abu Bakra: A man praised another man in front of the Prophet. The Prophet said thrice, Wailaka (Woe on you) ! You have cut the neck of your brother! The Prophet added, If it is indispensable for anyone of you to praise a person, then he should say, I think that such-and-such person (is so-and-so), and Allah is the one who will take his accounts (as he knows his reality) and none can sanctify anybody before Allah (and that only if he knows well about that person.) .
