This hadith has been narrated by Abu Ya'fur with the same chain of transmitters up to these words: We have been forbidden from it and no mention of that has been made what follows it.

حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، ح قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: فَنُهِينَا عَنْهُ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرَا مَا بَعْدَهُ

  ابو عوانہ نے ابو یعفور سے اور انھوں نے مصعب بن سعد سے روایت کی ‘ انھوں نے کہا : میں نےاپنے والد ( سعد بن ابی وقاص ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ ) کے پہلو میں نماز پڑھی اور اپنے دونوں ہاتھ اپنے گٹھنوں کے درمیان رکھے تو مجھے میرے والد نے کہا : اپنی دونوں ہتھیلیاں اپنے گٹھنوں پر رکھو ۔ انھوں ( مصعب ) نے کہا : میں نے دوبارہ یہی کام کیا تو انہوں میرے ہاتھوں پر مارا اور کہا : ہمیں اس سے روک دیا گیا تھا اور حکم دیا گیا تھا کہ ہم ہتھیلیاں گٹھنوں پر ٹکائیں ۔
