و حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ فِيمَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمْرَةَ بِنْتِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ عَائِشَةَ وَذُكِرَ لَهَا أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْمَيِّتَ لَيُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكْذِبْ وَلَكِنَّهُ نَسِيَ أَوْ أَخْطَأَ إِنَّمَا مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى يَهُودِيَّةٍ يُبْكَى عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ إِنَّهُمْ لَيَبْكُونَ عَلَيْهَا وَإِنَّهَا لَتُعَذَّبُ فِي قَبْرِهَا

Urdu Translation

  عمرہ بنت عبد الرحمٰن نے خبردی کہ انھوں نے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے سنا ( اس موقع پر ) ان کے سامنے بیان کیا گیا تھا حضرت عبد اللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کہتے ہیں میت کو زندہ کے رونے کی وجہ سے عذاب دیا جاتا ہے تو عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے کہا : اللہ ابو عبد الرحمٰن کو معاف فر ما ئے !یقیناً انھوں نے جھوٹ نہیں بو لا لیکن وہ بھول گئے ہیں یا ان سے غلطی ہو گئی ہے ( امرواقع یہ ہے کہ ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک یہودی عورت ( کے جنازے ) کے پاس سے گزرے جس پر آہ و بکارکی جا رہی تھی تو آپ نے فر ما یا : " یہ لو گ اس پر رو رہے ہیں اور اس کو اس کی قبر میں عذاب دیا جا رہاہے ۔

English Translation

Amra daughter of 'Abd al Rahman narrated that she heard (from) 'A'isha and made a mention to her about 'Abdullah b. 'Umar as saying: The dead is punished because of the lamentation of the living. Upon this 'A'isha said: May Allah have mercy upon the father of 'Abd al-Rahman (Ibn 'Umar). He did not tell a lie, but he forgot or made a mistake. The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) happened to pass by a (dead) Jewess who was being lamented. Upon this he said: They weep over her and she is being punished in the grave.
