It is narrated on the authority of 'Amir ibn Rabi'a (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: Should any one of you come across a funeral procession, and if he does not intend to accompany it, he must stand up until it passes by him or is placed upon the ground before it passes him.

و حَدَّثَنَاه قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ح و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ ح و حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ جَمِيعًا عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ وَفِي حَدِيثِ يُونُسَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ و حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ح و حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ رُمْحٍ أَخْبَرَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا رَأَى أَحَدُكُمْ الْجَنَازَةَ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ مَاشِيًا مَعَهَا فَلْيَقُمْ حَتَّى تُخَلِّفَهُ أَوْ تُوضَعَ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ تُخَلِّفَهُ

  لیث اور یونس نے ابن شہاب سے اسی سند کے ساتھ روایت بیان کی ہے اور یونس کی حدیث میں ہے کہ انھوں ( عامر بن ربعیہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ ) نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سنا ، آپ فرمارہے تھے ۔ ( اسی طرح ) قتیبہ بن سعید اور ابن رمح نے لیث سے ، انھوں نے نافع سے ، انھوں نے حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے انھوں نے حضرت عامر بن ربعیہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے اور انھوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی ، فرمایا : " جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص جنازے کو دیکھے ، تو اگر وہ جنازے کے ساتھ چل نہیں رہا ، تو کھڑا ہوجائے حتیٰ کہ وہ ( جنازہ ) اس کو پیچھے چھوڑ دے یا اس کو پیچھے چھوڑنے سے پہلے اس کو رکھ دیا جائے ۔ "
