حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ أَبُو حَفْصٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ عُمَرُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَدِّهِ صَخْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَزَا ثَقِيفًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا أَنْ سَمِعَ ذَلِكَ صَخْرٌ رَكِبَ فِي خَيْلٍ يُمِدُّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَوَجَدَ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدِ انْصَرَفَ وَلَمْ يَفْتَحْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَعَلَ صَخْرٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَهْدَ اللَّهِ وَذِمَّتَهُ أَنْ لَا يُفَارِقَ هَذَا الْقَصْرَ حَتَّى يَنْزِلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمْ يُفَارِقْهُمْ حَتَّى نَزَلُوا عَلَى حُكْمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ صَخْرٌ:‏‏‏‏ أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَإِنَّ ثَقِيفًا قَدْ نَزَلَتْ عَلَى حُكْمِكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَأَنَا مُقْبِلٌ إِلَيْهِمْ وَهُمْ فِي خَيْلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالصَّلَاةِ جَامِعَةً فَدَعَا لِأَحْمَسَ عَشْرَ دَعَوَاتٍ اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لِأَحْمَسَ فِي خَيْلِهَا وَرِجَالِهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَتَاهُ الْقَوْمُ فَتَكَلَّمَ الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ إِنَّ صَخْرًا أَخَذَ عَمَّتِي وَدَخَلَتْ فِيمَا دَخَلَ فِيهِ الْمُسْلِمُونَ فَدَعَاهُ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا صَخْرُ إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ إِذَا أَسْلَمُوا أَحْرَزُوا دِمَاءَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ فَادْفَعْ إِلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ عَمَّتَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهِ وَسَأَلَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا لِبَنِي سُلَيْمٍ قَدْ هَرَبُوا عَنِ الْإِسْلَامِ وَتَرَكُوا ذَلِكَ الْمَاءَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ أَنْزِلْنِيهِ أَنَا وَقَوْمِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ فَأَنْزَلَهُ وَأَسْلَمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَعْنِي السُّلَمِيِّينَ فَأَتَوْا صَخْرًا فَسَأَلُوهُ أَنْ يَدْفَعَ إِلَيْهِمُ الْمَاءَ فَأَبَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَتَوْا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ أَسْلَمْنَا وَأَتَيْنَا صَخْرًا لِيَدْفَعَ إِلَيْنَا مَاءَنَا فَأَبَى عَلَيْنَا فَأَتَاهُ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا صَخْرُ إِنَّ الْقَوْمَ إِذَا أَسْلَمُوا أَحْرَزُوا أَمْوَالَهُمْ وَدِمَاءَهُمْ فَادْفَعْ إِلَى الْقَوْمِ مَاءَهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَأَيْتُ وَجْهَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَغَيَّرُ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ حُمْرَةً حَيَاءً مِنْ أَخْذِهِ الْجَارِيَةَ وَأَخْذِهِ الْمَاءَ.

Urdu Translation

صخر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ثقیف سے جہاد کیا ( یعنی قلعہ طائف پر حملہ آور ہوئے ) چنانچہ جب صخر رضی اللہ عنہ نے اسے سنا تو وہ چند سوار لے کر نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی مدد کے لیے نکلے تو دیکھا کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم واپس ہو چکے ہیں اور قلعہ فتح نہیں ہوا ہے، تو صخر رضی اللہ عنہ نے اس وقت اللہ سے عہد کیا کہ وہ قلعہ کو چھوڑ کر نہ جائیں گے جب تک کہ مشرکین رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے حکم کے آگے جھک نہ جائیں اور قلعہ خالی نہ کر دیں ( پھر ایسا ہی ہوا ) انہوں نے قلعہ کا محاصرہ اس وقت تک ختم نہیں کیا جب تک کہ مشرکین رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے حکم کے آگے جھک نہ گئے۔ صخر رضی اللہ عنہ نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو لکھا: امّا بعد، اللہ کے رسول! ثقیف آپ کا حکم مان گئے ہیں اور وہ اپنے گھوڑ سواروں کے ساتھ ہیں میں ان کے پاس جا رہا ہوں ( تاکہ آگے کی بات چیت کروں ) ، جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ اطلاع ملی تو آپ نے باجماعت نماز قائم کرنے کا حکم دیا اور نماز میں احمس ۱؎ کے لیے دس ( باتوں کی ) دعائیں مانگیں اور ( ان دعاؤں میں سے ایک دعا یہ بھی تھی ) : «اللهم بارك لأحمس في خيلها ورجالها» اے اللہ! احمس کے سواروں اور پیادوں میں برکت دے ، پھر سب لوگ ( یعنی ضحر رضی اللہ عنہ اور ان کے ساتھی ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے، اس وقت مغیرہ بن شعبہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے بات کی اور کہا: اللہ کے نبی! صخر نے میری پھوپھی کو گرفتار کر لیا ہے جب کہ وہ اس ( دین ) میں داخل ہو چکی ہیں جس میں سبھی مسلمان داخل ہو چکے ہیں، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صخر رضی اللہ عنہ کو بلایا، اور فرمایا: صخر! جب کوئی قوم اسلام قبول کر لیتی ہے تو وہ اپنی جانوں اور مالوں کو بچا اور محفوظ کر لیتی ہے، اس لیے مغیرہ کی پھوپھی کو انہیں لوٹا دو ، تو صخر رضی اللہ عنہ نے مغیرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کو ان کی پھوپھی واپس کر دی، پھر صخر رضی اللہ عنہ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سلیمیوں کے پانی کے چشمے کو مانگا جسے وہ لوگ اسلام کے خوف سے چھوڑ کر بھاگ لیے تھے، صخر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: اللہ کے نبی! آپ مجھے اور میری قوم کو اس پانی کے چشمے پہ رہنے اور اس میں تصرف کرنے کا حق و اختیار دے دیجئیے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کہا: ہاں ہاں ( لے لو اور ) رہو ، تو وہ لوگ رہنے لگے ( اور کچھ دنوں بعد ) بنو سلیم مسلمان ہو گئے اور صخر رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس آئے، اور صخر رضی اللہ عنہ سے درخواست کی کہ وہ انہیں پانی ( کا چشمہ ) واپس دے دیں، صخر رضی اللہ عنہ ( اور ان کی قوم ) نے دینے سے انکار کیا ( اس خیال سے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے وہ چشمہ انہیں اور ان کی قوم کو دے دیا ہے ) تو وہ لوگ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے اور آپ سے عرض کیا: اللہ کے نبی! ہم مسلمان ہو چکے ہیں، ہم صخر کے پاس پہنچے ( اور ان سے درخواست کی ) کہ ہمارا پانی کا چشمہ ہمیں واپس دے دیں تو انہوں نے ہمیں لوٹانے سے انکار کر دیا ہے، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صخر رضی اللہ عنہ کو بلوایا اور فرمایا: صخر! جب کوئی قوم اسلام قبول کر لیتی ہے تو اپنی جانوں اور مالوں کو محفوظ کر لیتی ہے ( نہ اسے ناحق قتل کیا جا سکتا ہے اور نہ اس کا مال لیا جا سکتا ہے ) تو تم ان کو ان کا چشمہ دے دو صخر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: بہت اچھا اللہ کے نبی! ( صخر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں ) میں نے اس وقت رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے روئے مبارک کو دیکھا کہ وہ شرم و ندامت سے بدل گیا اور سرخ ہو گیا ( یہ سوچ کر ) کہ میں نے اس سے لونڈی بھی لے لی اور پانی بھی ۲؎۔

English Translation

Narrated Sakhr ibn al-Ayla al-Ahmasi: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم raided Thaqif. When Sakhr heard this, he proceeded on his horse along with some horsemen to support the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He found the Prophet of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم had returned and he did not conquer (Taif). On that day Sakhr made a covenant with Allah and had His protection that he would not depart from that fortress until they (the inhabitants) surrendered to the command of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He did not leave them until they had surrendered to the command of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. Sakhr then wrote to him: To proceed: Thaqif have surrendered to your command, Messenger of Allah, and I am on my way to them. They have horses with them. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم then ordered prayers to be offered in congregation. He then prayed for Ahmas ten times: O Allah, send blessings the horses and the men of Ahmas. The people came and Mughirah ibn Shubah said to him: Prophet of Allah, Sakhr took my paternal aunt while she embraced Islam like other Muslims. He called him and said: Sakhr, when people embrace Islam, they have security of their blood and property. Give back to Mughirah his paternal aunt. So he returned his aunt to him and asked the Prophet of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم: What about Banu Sulaym who have run away for (fear of) Islam and left that water? He said: Prophet of Allah, allow me and my people to settle there. He said: Yes. So he allowed him to settle there. Banu Sulaym then embraced Islam, and they came to Sakhr. They asked him to return their water to them. But he refused. So they came to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and said: Prophet of Allah, we embraced Islam and came to Sakhr so that he might return our water to us. But he has refused. He (the Prophet) then came to him and said: When people embrace Islam, they secure their properties and blood. Return to the people their water. He said: Yes, Prophet of Allah. I saw that the face of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was reddening at that moment, being ashamed of taking back from him the slave-girl and the water.
