حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هَمَّامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَأَثْنَى عَلَى عُثْمَانَ فِي وَجْهِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَخَذَ الْمِقْدَادُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ تُرَابًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَحَثَا فِي وَجْهِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُ الْمَدَّاحِينَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَاحْثُوا فِي وُجُوهِهِمُ التُّرَابَ .

Urdu Translation

ہمام کہتے ہیں کہ   ایک شخص آیا اور عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کی تعریف انہی کے سامنے کرنے لگا، تو مقداد بن اسود رضی اللہ عنہ نے مٹی لی اور اس کے چہرے پہ ڈال دی اور کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ہے: جب تم تعریف کرنے والوں سے ملو تو ان کے چہروں پر مٹی ڈال دو۔

English Translation

Hammam said: A man came and praised Uthman in his face, Al-Miqdad bin Al-Aswad took dust and threw it on his face, saying: the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: when you see those who are given to praising people, throw dust in their faces.
