Abu Shaikh Al-Huna'i said: I heard Mu'awiyah say to a group of Muhajirun and Ansar who were around him: 'Do you know that the Messenger of Allah [SAW] forbade wearing silk?' They said: 'By Allah, yes.' He said 'And (he forbade) wearing gold unless it was broken (into smaller pieces)?' They said: 'Yes.' 'Ali bin Ghurab contradicted him; he reported it from Bahais, from Abu Shaikh, from Ibn 'Umar.

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا بَيْهَسُ بْنُ فَهْدَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو شَيْخٍ الْهُنَائِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَحَوْلَهُ نَاسٌ مِنْ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ،‏‏‏‏ وَالْأَنْصَارِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهُمْ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ نَهَى عَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ ؟ فَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ. (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَنَهَى عَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مُقَطَّعًا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ. خَالَفَهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ غُرَابٍ رَوَاهُ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ بَيْهَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ.

ابوشیخ ہنائی کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ کو سنا، ان کے اردگرد مہاجرین و انصار کے کچھ لوگ تھے، معاویہ نے ان سے کہا: کیا آپ لوگ جانتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ریشم پہننے سے منع فرمایا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہاں، وہ بولے: اور سونا پہننے سے منع فرمایا ہے، مگر جب «مقطع» ہو؟ ان لوگوں نے کہا: ہاں۔ ( ابوعبدالرحمٰن نسائی کہتے ہیں: ) علی بن غراب نے نضر بن شمیل کے خلاف اس حدیث کو بیھس سے انہوں نے ابوشیخ سے اور انہوں نے ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت کیا ہے۔
