حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَاعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْهَادِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خَبَّابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏هَذَا السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ قَدْ عَرَفْنَاهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَكَيْفَ الصَّلَاةُ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُولُوا:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدِكَ وَرَسُولِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ .

Urdu Translation

ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ہم نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ پر سلام بھیجنا تو ہمیں معلوم ہو گیا، لیکن درود کیسے بھیجیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم کہو: «اللهم صل على محمد عبدك ورسولك كما صليت على إبراهيم وبارك على محمد وعلى آل محمد كما باركت على إبراهيم» اے اللہ! اپنے بندے اور رسول محمد ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) پر رحمت نازل فرما جیسا کہ تو نے ابراہیم ( علیہ السلام ) پر رحمت نازل فرمائی ہے، اور محمد ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) اور ان کے اہل و عیال پہ برکت اتار جیسا کہ تو نے ابراہیم ( علیہ السلام ) پر اتاری ہے ۱؎۔

English Translation

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri said: “We said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! We know what it means to send greetings upon you, but what does it mean to send peace and blessings upon you?’ He said: ‘Say: “Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammadin ‘abdika wa Rasulika kama salayta ‘ala Ibrahima, wa barik ‘ala Muhammad (wa ‘ala ali Muhammadin) kama barakta ‘ala Ibrahima [O Allah, send Your grace, honor and mercy upon Muhammad, Your slave and Messenger, as You sent Your (grace, honour and mercy) upon Ibrahim, and send Your blessings upon Muhammad (and the family of Muhammad) as You sent Your blessings upon Ibrahim].”
