The passion to work hard for success in life is a very important component, so there is no denying in it. But there is another important point for success in life that very few people ponder on it and that is to consider one's blessings as real for oneself and to be happy about it and to give thanks to Allah on their blessings. And don't compare with others (blessings).
Because others are born with their own destiny and there are other resources and means for them. But for us are the means that Allah is giving us, and when we give thanks to Allah, He says:
وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ
interpretation of the meaning: And (remember) when your Lord proclaimed: "If you give thanks (by accepting Faith and worshiping none but Allah), I will give you more (of My Blessings)
(surah ibraheem 14 ayah: 7)
So when we give thanks to Allah and we are satisfied with the blessings of Allah from the heart then the blessings that will increase for us in return (of that feeling of satisfaction), are the real ones for us so we should say Alhamdulillah from the heart and It is an important matter of understanding.
Remember that for every person who gives thanks for the blessings of Allah, Allah will increase something more for him, for some maybe wealth, for some good and virtuous offspring, for others beneficial knowledge, for others good deeds etc.
With increase of thanks to Allaah, one can experience in increase of more than one thing as well. This maybe divine decree and wisdom of Allaah, as Allaah knows what is best for whom so ever at any certain point of their life.
A question may arise here, why should I not compare my blessings with the blessings of others? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) replied in a Saheeh Hadeeth of sayyaduna Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه):
A strong believer is better and is more lovable to Allah than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone, (but) cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allah and do not lose heart, and if anything (in the form of trouble) comes to you, don't say:
فَلاَ تَقُلْ لَوْ أَنِّي فَعَلْتُ كَانَ كَذَا وَكَذَا . وَلَكِنْ قُلْ قَدَرُ اللَّهِ وَمَا شَاءَ فَعَلَ فَإِنَّ لَوْ تَفْتَحُ عَمَلَ الشَّيْطَانِ " .
interpretation of the meaning: If I had not done that, it would not have happened so and so, but say: Allah did that what He had ordained to do and your" if" opens the (gate) for the Satan.
(sahih muslim, hadeeth number: 2664)
The shows that good or bad effect of the known causes is also due to the mercy and grace of Allah Almighty and the intention of Allah Himself.
Meaning man should try his best and then the results and outcome is bad or good, sustenance and economy is more or less everything is from Allah. That is why one should not compare their sustenance and their source of income and their blessings in life with others sustenance and income and blessings and sources in life, as each person is born with different strategies, hardship and destiny.
May Allah give us the correct understanding, and tafaqqah and faham of this matter and open our horizon on these points in our heart as well, Allahumma Ameen.
