Social networking is taking
over the world. In the UK alone over 10 million people are users of MySpace and
over 3 million people are users of facebook. My question is this: are social
networking sites good for our society?
If you are a teenager I can bet that you got an account on any of the social
networking sites. It’s a new trend in Asian countries all the teenager is
following it. It’s like it is there basic need.
Social networking is good because u meet many people here make new friends and
friends and family now have a quicker, cheaper way of keeping in touch, making
important relationships easier to maintain.
I want to share my personal experience that I found my lots school friends on
Facebook after ten long years. And now we are together again.
You can make new friends like in old days people make “Pen friend” and got to
know about others. And after some time you like to meet you friend. So you can
share pictures here and much more.
But the main thing is every thing got its side effects
In 2009, a slew of news reports warned that social networking sites would ruin
our bodies and brains by shortening our attention spans, weakening our immune
systems and possibly fostering autism.
Some people misuse other information and pictures for there own joy and also
making other people fool.
There are very real dangers surrounding social networking and so when using
these sites people should take precautions. Below are some of the things people
are advised to do when using social networking:
• Restrict access to your profile or page to people that you know face to face,
such as family and friends.
• Don’t use a username that reveals anything about you. Stay clear from using
your real name or age.
• Keep personal information to yourself. Don’t post things such as: addresses,
dates of birth, phone numbers, credit and debit card numbers or the name of your
school or work.
• Remember that not everyone is trustworthy. Keep in mind that people lie.
• Avoid meeting people you have only met online.
• Trust your own instincts if you are suspicious or feel uncomfortable when
talking to someone.
