A Termite

(Shaheer Ullah Khan, Kharain)

Unfortunately, today, Pakistan is facing many problems which tend adverse effects to the country. Poverty, terrorism, poor educational reforms, political instability, diplomatic scenario on the international front, etc.

Although the above mentioned problems hold an important stature in the list of troubles that our country is enduring, but in my opinion, corruption is the most attention seeking matter in this regard.

Corruption is a termite which will , God forbid hollow the base of our country and when the base is weak no country can expect development. Expressing further, I think that this very corruption is the root cause of all the matters that I mentioned in the beginning.

By definition, corruption, in terms of mutual affairs is the unlawful distribution of rights in such a way which obscures the concept of fairness. When a person is unable to attain his due right, it is obvious that he will develop a negative sentiment against those who hinder his right. This unfair distribution of finances, promotes poverty. And when people cannot afford the necessities of life, even the basic requirements, they are propelled to commit illegal acts to make a living, even terrorism. Many a terrorists who have been caught in the war on terror have confessed that they violated the law to earn, for fulfilling the basic commodities of life.

Due to the menace of corruption social differences have arisen in the society. People who are weak economically due to unfair distribution of economic contents, are unable to educate their children at good institutes, It is hard luck of the country that, there are many parallel education systems, instead of single comprehensive one.

When the society is facing social differences, political instability is aired, causing bad governance. Hence it is seen many times that people often loose their confidence in the political leadership; therefore the arrival of the military governments is seen.

And due to this internal turmoil, Pakistan always have to face diplomatic pressure on the international scene.

Unfortunately, corruption is seen at every level and in numerous forms. Let it be leadership to the person in charge of some warehouse at a local factory. There is a need to differ between privileges and corruption. When a person exceeds his legal boundary of benefits he is to be accused of doing corruption.

We still have time. If we want, we can undermine this menace and save our county and register a safe and prosperity nourished future. Anti-corruption organizations need to be made efficient and fair and square. And at the grass root level such diverse programmes of responsibility building; be introduced nationally, which would groom the citizens in a way focusing on sincerity to the country. Electronic media and national awareness programmes at educational institutes such as lectures by un-controversial & honest personalities and patriotic think tanks who provide their services on volunteer bases; can be efficient and result yielding tools for this matter

May Allah always give us the strength of attaining Rizq-e-Halal, affluently and with respect. Aameen.
