Man dragged from car at gunpoint in Sydney
(Najamuddin Ghanghro, Karachi (Original from Larkana))
A man has been dragged from his
car at gunpoint after he stopped at traffic lights in Sydney's inner west.
While waiting at traffic lights on Beach Road in Dulwich Hill, the 34-year-old
male driver was threatened by a man armed with a handgun, about 6.30pm (AEST) on
Friday, police said.
The armed man then dragged him from his maroon Ford Fairmount before hopping in
and driving off towards Constitution Road.
Police are looking for the carjacker who they describe as being of Mediterranean
appearance, 173cm tall with a thin build and a goatee beard.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man has been charged for a hoax reporting of a
carjacking in Wolloomooloo in Sydney's inner east.
It is alleged he made the false report to cover damage caused to the car in an
an earlier accident.
Police were called to a car park on Cowper Wharf Road just after 4pm (AEST) on
Friday and blocked nearby streets off as they investigated the report.
"Subsequent investigations allegedly revealed the report to be false and a
25-year-old man was arrested and taken to Kings Cross Police Station," police
said in a statement.
He was charged with making a false representation resulting in police
investigation.
Bail was granted and he will appear in the Downing Centre Local Court on Friday
October 19.
